Hi there... I'm Dixie. I've had quite the journey to get here. For months, the local fire department tried catching me. But then they had luck when they found me stuck during the big flood over water we got, and brought me to rescue. As it turns out, I wasn't always a stray. I had a family once. After my boy passed away, his mom couldn't care for me anymore, and I was left to fend for myself. It was a confusing time, but I'm ready to leave the past behind and find a family to love again. These days, I'm happiest living the easy life. I'm an older gal, and I've definitely earned my naps! Give me a comfy bed, a sunny spot on the floor, and I'm one happy girl. I also enjoy taking walks and am told I have wonderful leash manners. I'm quiet, calm, gentle, and easy to be around. I get along well with other dogs and would fit right into a peaceful home. I also love to play fetch! I'm already spayed, fully vaccinated, 4DX tested, and up to date on my ProHeart 12 and Bravecto. If you're looking for a sweet, loyal companion who will happily keep you company through lazy afternoons, neighborhood strolls, and all of life's little moments, I think we might be the perfect match. My adoption fee is $250, and you can apply to adopt me at www.adoggie4you.org . I'm currently in Texas, but I can travel to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington (Kentucky), and locations along the East Coast for an additional $250 transport fee . Due to state regulations, I cannot be transported to Rhode Island or Massachusetts.
