Meet Denali ❤️ Location: San Antonio, TX DOB: 2/27/22 Denali is an absolute sweetheart with the gentlest soul. She's a happy, mellow girl whose favorite thing in the world is simply being loved. If you're looking for a loyal couch companion who adores snuggles, Denali may be your perfect match. She is incredibly affectionate and loves to burrow her head into you during cuddle time, fitting herself into any cozy little nook she can find. Being close to her people is her favorite place to be. Denali has wonderful house manners. She's fully housebroken, doesn't chew on things she shouldn't, and has had no accidents while spending time loose in the house with her foster's two dogs. She's an excellent listener and quickly responds to gentle correction, rarely repeating behaviors once she's been redirected. She has an easygoing personality and isn't bothered by much. Thunderstorms and fireworks don't faze her, and she's happy with a relaxed lifestyle. A backyard is plenty for her, and while she enjoys going for walks, she's perfectly content to spend the rest of the day lounging on the couch with her family. Denali gets along beautifully with other dogs and is not reactive. She regularly attends doggy daycare, where she has successfully met dogs of all sizes and personalities. While she'd do well as an only dog, her foster believes she would especially enjoy having a canine companion to play with between naps. She's also wonderful with people. Although she may be a little shy when first meeting someone, she warms up almost immediately—especially if she's getting pets and attention! She's met children during walks and has done very well with them. While she hasn't been around children of all ages, her foster feels confident she'll be a loving companion for people of all ages. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. Denali rides well in the car and walks nicely on a leash. She's not a fan of doggy doors, and lakes or other bodies of water make her a little nervous, though with patient exposure she may become more comfortable. One thing you'll quickly learn about Denali: she absolutely LOVES food! She's extremely food motivated and will happily help herself if given the opportunity—even an entire watermelon isn't safe! Because she eats so enthusiastically, she will need a slow feeder at mealtimes. Denali may have early hip dysplasia or spinal issues. At this time, they don't slow her down or affect her daily life, but they'll need to be monitored and managed to help keep her comfortable as she ages. The ideal home for Denali is one where she'll be treated like a true member of the family. She belongs indoors, stretched out on the couch beside her favorite people—not outside. She'd thrive with: A loving family that enjoys cuddles and companionship. A home with another friendly dog (preferred but not required). Moderate daily activity, such as walks and light play, to keep her healthy and moving. Someone who appreciates a calm, affectionate companion and is ready to give her all the love she deserves. Whether you live in an apartment or a house, Denali will be happiest wherever her people are. Her foster describes her as nothing short of an angel—a dog whose heart is full of love, forgiveness, and joy despite whatever she may have experienced in the past.
