This pup will be available to meet starting on 7/11 If you've ever wondered what would happen if you combined a professional linebacker, a party host, and a giant teddy bear into one dog, meet Smokey. This handsome 94-pound Rottweiler is a walking bundle of happiness who never got the memo that he's supposed to act serious. Instead, Smokey approaches life with a wagging tail, a goofy grin, and enough enthusiasm to brighten even the toughest day. He's the kind of dog who walks into a room and instantly becomes the life of the party. Smokey has a medium to high energy level and would love a home with a yard where he can stretch his legs, play, and enjoy life with a canine buddy or two. He gets along well with other dogs and can take corrections when he gets a little too excited. His social skills are still a work in progress, but his heart is absolutely in the right place. This big guy is very treat motivated and already knows basic obedience, making him a fun dog to continue training with. He walks well on leash most of the time, but fair warning: when Smokey decides something is exciting, his impressive strength can make an appearance. Luckily, he's eager to learn and loves having a job to do. Despite his football-player size, Smokey is truly just a giant goofball who wants friends, fun, and a family to call his own. He arrived a little underweight and could use a few extra helpings at dinner time to get back to his healthiest self. Fortunately, snacks are one of his favorite subjects, so he's fully committed to this mission. Any Rottweiler lover looking for a loyal companion with a larger-than-life personality will fall hard for Smokey. He's goofy, smiley, affectionate, and ready to bring laughter, adventure, and plenty of love into a lucky family's home. They were rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
