About

01/23/26 14:49 On Needs Rescue for visibility. 03/30/26 09:37 Meet Dwayne! This handsome pup has been at our shelter since December and he can't wait to meet you. Dwyane loves to go out to play groups and prefers a softer crowd. He knows how to respect the boundries of the other dogs in the yard and he knows how to politly ask for space from his rowdier friends when he needs it. Dwyane tends to do his own thing, but he is happy to coexist in the yard with his calmer friends. Dwyane knows trinks like sit, down, and paw, and he is super excited to show you! So come in today so Dwayne can show off for you, and just maybe he'll steal your heart in the process. 01/31/26 10:27 MH Dwayne is a very friendly, social dog who enjoys attention and seeks out affection, especially in his kennel. He is easy to leash and handle, knows basic cues like sit, down, and paw, and can be treat-motivated, though he may lose interest when highly stimulated. Outside, Dwayne becomes strongly focused on other dogs, particularly in yards or when dogs walk by, and can pull hard on leash; he has shown reactive behaviors such as barking and growling when encountering other reactive dogs. When matched with a good partner, however, Dwayne is very polite and waits for play solicitation. He enjoys a rough and tumble playstyle with a good-spirited dog. Dwayne matched the energy of his environment; he would be a good fit for a home with other playful dog but may not do well with older or less play-motivated dogs. Dwayne does best with experienced handlers and would benefit from a home without kids. 1/16/26 Showed for adoption. Dwayne was very friendly in the kennel, seeking attention and easy to remove, with no initial reactivity toward dogs in nearby kennels. He knows basic cues (sit, down, shake) and is highly motivated by his environment. In the yard, he became very focused on other dogs and had difficulty disengaging, pulling strongly on leash and showing reactivity toward passing dogs. He required extra handling support when returning to the kennel and showed some reactivity in kennel areas. Recommend an experienced, adult-only home 04/14/26 What I did today: I completed a 5-mile walk with no effort in the cold, refreshing rain with my new human friend, enjoying all the new smells and sounds. Although I felt cautious around loud noises, fast-moving cyclists, and nearby dogs, I stayed calm and didn't react aggressively. I had fun exploring off-trail areas and searching for gophers, but resisted chasing squirrels and discovered I don't really enjoy water. What to know about this dog: • Enjoys long walks, exploring new environments, and engaging with scents like tracking gophers and tracing the paths explored • Generally calm and well-behaved, even when nervous around noises, cyclists and other people but a little anxious towards other reactive dogs • Curious and adventurous but responsive to guidance, avoiding chasing squirrels and disliking water Three words to describe me: Adventurous, Energetic, Curious
