Ziggy is a handsome 50-pound Boxer/Pit Bull mix who will be 4 in September. From his early days in a loving foster home to the family who adopted him as a young dog, Ziggy has always been a cherished companion. After spending the last three years with his adopter, he now finds himself looking for a new home due to changes in his owner’s circumstances—not because of anything Ziggy has done. This affectionate boy loves being close to his people and can usually be found relaxing on his favorite spot—the couch! In fact, Ziggy considers the couch his bed and happily sleeps there day and night. Ziggy is a smart dog who knows sit, stay, place, shake, and down and responds very well to positive reinforcement training. He is both house-trained and crate-trained, making him an easy addition to a new household. He enjoys spending time with his people, learning new things, and earning treats for a job well done. One of Ziggy’s biggest strengths is his experience living in a home. He has lived with two adult female cats throughout his entire adult life and has done well with them. He currently lives in a single-family home with a backyard, but his owner believes he could adapt well to apartment living provided he receives regular exercise and daily walks. With other dogs, Ziggy tends to do best with calm, mature canine companions. He has shown that he can coexist successfully with older, laid-back dogs and may benefit from thoughtful introductions and continued positive experiences with other dogs. Ziggy is up to date on vaccinations, receives monthly NexGard Plus, and eats Fromm dog food. He loves treats of all kinds and enjoys chewing on appropriate bones. Plush toys don’t stand much of a chance with Ziggy, so he prefers durable rubber toys that can keep up with his enthusiasm.
