The Fence-Jumping Hug-Giving Sweetheart — Meet CALAENA! Calaena says, “Wander through the yard?? Hold my squeaky toy… I jumped over my finder's fence to join their yard! ”And yes… she really did! Her finders kept her safe until the next morning and brought her to us. She did wonderfully with their 14-month-old baby, and they let us know that Calaena loves to give hugs — something we observed firsthand when she arrived. Calaena had no microchip and no ID tag, and no one came to reclaim her during her entire stray hold, even though she appeared on our website the whole time. Since arriving with us, we've learned: • She walks well on leash • Her coat was matted on intake — staff have been carefully shaving her, and she has been very cooperative • She met a similar-sized spayed female on leash and was immediately all play-bounces and happy energy • She is sweet, social, energetic, and ready to be someone's best companion We always recommend meet-and-greets with other dogs and children to ensure a great fit. We do not have information on how she does with cats and cannot test for this. Come meet Calaena in person to see if she's meant to be part of your family!We are a first-come, first-served, in-person adoption center with no application. Calaena will be available for adoption when we open tomorrow at 12pm, June 24 at 430 Bristol Drive, Statesville Please bring a collar and leash OR purchase a combo from us for only $15 to safely take your new family member home. Adoption Hours: • Mon–Fri: 12–5pm • Sat: 11am–2pm Adoption Fee: $80 All adoptable dogs/puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and preventatives. Adopters must establish vet care upon adoption.
