Meet River Some dogs have a story that breaks your heart before they ever get the chance to steal it. River is a 5-6 year old Yorkie/Silky Terrier mix who was found in a body of water in rough condition. While we may never know exactly how he ended up there, we do know that this little survivor has left the past behind and is ready to start the next chapter of his life. At just 10 pounds, River is currently a little underweight and could stand to gain a couple more pounds. What he lacks in size, however, he more than makes up for in love. River is an affectionate little shadow who adores being close to his people. His favorite activities include sitting on laps, snuggling in bed, and soaking up all the attention he can get. River gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes, is respectful of cats, and doesn't bother birds. He's housebroken, has excellent house manners, and settles in quickly wherever his people are. Like any self-respecting terrier, River has a little bit of spunk mixed in with all that sweetness. He's proof that resilience comes in small packages. His only complaint? Apparently no one has scheduled his spa day yet. River is definitely overdue for a haircut and is currently rocking a "found floating and then rescued" hairstyle. Thankfully, his charming personality shines through every scruffy strand. River is looking for a family that will cherish him, spoil him appropriately, and never let him wonder where he belongs again. If you're looking for a loyal companion, professional lap warmer, and expert bedtime snuggler, River may be your perfect match. Physical fence required ********************************************************************************** We show some of our adoptable dogs at PetSmart, Utica, each Saturday between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm. Cats typically don't do well at events, so they only attend with a pre-approved meet and greet appointment. If you are interested in a particular pet, we suggest you email: mmarpaws@gmail.com to see if that pet will be there. Applications are approved on the basis of the best and most appropriate home for the animal, not on a first come, first served basis. On site adoption available to pre-approved applicants only. Adoption fees go towards vaccines, heartworm prevention/testing, flea/tick prevention, spay/neuter and other medical problems that may arise. MMAR is an all volunteer, foster based, 501 (c) 3, non profit organization. Without your donation, wonderful pets like these have to be passed by because we cannot afford their care.
