Izzy is a happy, easy-going gal. She likes to roll over for belly rubs and will give you her paw. She shows no signs of resource guarding, is friendly with big and small dogs, old and younger. She currently lives with two adult male dogs and a senior Boston terrier. She is very food motivated, very smart, and picks up commands quickly. She is crate trained for sleeping but will happily sleep in a bed next to you if allowed. She likes kiddie pools and rolling in the dirt! She is doggy door trained and house trained. Izzy has high separation anxiety and cannot be kenneled when left alone. She will need a high anxiety crate and training if the goal is to crate while alone (her foster family is currently working on this). She will also seek out and chew electrical cords if left alone. They may subside when she gets used to a new home, but she is currently being medicated to calm this down when alone. She walks VERY well on a leash and seems very quiet, no barking even when the other dogs do. She LOVES attention and will be by your side daily. Izzy was originally found wondering in the desert and brought to MCACC, adopted and returned a month later. Now she is in a stable foster home. She has been taken to the vet and found that she has congenital defects causing her knee caps to be on the outside a bit, but it's not causing pain or problems. She has a slight bit of hip dysplasia on one side and is on glucosamine and should stay on this long term. Eventually, she will get arthritis and will need pain management.
