About

06/17/26 18:59 Intake date: 6/16/26 Due out: 6/21/26 ~5 year old M intact orange tabby who was found stray with neck abscess/wound and cloudy eyes. No ear tip no microchip found. He is friendly and affiliative. On examination, he has severe chronic changes at his cornea that make him functionally blind (he does not visually track a finger) likely from prior herpes infection or other infections. His eyes do not appear painful at this time and do not need enucleation at this time but ongoing close monitoring would be recommended. He has early feline chronic gingivostomatitis in his mouth - which is a painful chronic auto-immune disease that leads to painful sores/ulcers in the mouth that can progress over time. At this time he has a healthy body condition and is very willing to eat wet food. The treatment of choice for feline chronic gingivostomatitis is full mouth extractions and, at times, ongoing medical management after that. Consultation with a veterinary dentist is recommended. Lastly, he came in with a wound under his chin, likely a draining abscess. He was treated with antibiotics (convenia) and pain meds (onsior) This patient is positive for FIV, negative for FELV and negative for feline heartworm. Already vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed. He is unfit for re-release given that he is functionally blind. He is in need of rescue FINAL to a rescue able/willing to bring him for dental extractions and he could benefit from ophthalmology consultation to determine a monitoring plan for his eyes. He will need to remain an indoor cat in a FIV + friendly home to reduce risk of further infections given his immunocompromised status. In need of rescue FINAL with review date of 6/26/26.
