About

Meet Boomer! DOB: February 2024 Weight: 43 lbs Disposition: Low-maintenance housemate, professional napper, and independent toy enthusiast The Perfect "Only King" for the Savvy Bully Lover Exemplary House Manners Inside the home, Boomer is an absolute gentleman. He is fully housebroken, completely non-destructive, and incredibly chill. He is a classic Bulldog who is perfectly content to spend his day snoozing in a sunny spot on the rug. If you work from home or just enjoy a quiet, low-key household, Boomer matches that energy completely. Independent & Short-Burst Energy You won't need to go on grueling hikes with this guy! Boomer has very low exercise requirements and is built for short walks of about 15 minutes to sniff the grass and do his business. The Toy Champion: Boomer absolutely loves chewing on his toys and is excellent at entertaining himself. Give him a sturdy chew toy or a puzzle, and he is happy to quietly mind his own business. A Brilliant Student: Boomer is highly treat-motivated and learns super quick. He aims to please when there is a snack involved, making him a lot of fun to train. Understanding Boomer’s "Hard-Wiring" (Management Requirements) Boomer is a complicated dog with a short fuse when he feels startled, crowded, or overstimulated. While he has excellent bite inhibition (he does not break skin, but uses warning nips to create space when his boundaries are crossed), he requires an experienced, confident owner who understands tenacious breed body language. To ensure his next adoption is a permanent success, his new home must meet the following criteria: Only Pet Status: While Boomer can coexist at a distance, sharing a home with another animal triggers his urge to "police" and bully over resources. He needs to be the only king of his castle. Strictly Adult-Only Home: Boomer has a severe startle reflex and is highly sensitive to unpredictable, close-proximity movements. He cannot live in or frequently host a home with children. Quiet, Low-Traffic Lifestyle: Busy apartment complexes or high-traffic neighborhoods are too stressful for him. He needs a quiet environment where he won't be snuck up on from behind on his short walks. The "Floor-Only" Rule: Boomer experiences spatial insecurity when he feels trapped or crowded on elevated surfaces. His new owner must keep him off all furniture (couches and beds) and provide him with his own comfortable floor beds where he has plenty of personal space. Structure Over Hype: For his first few weeks, Boomer needs a quiet routine to decompress. He thrives best with an owner who prioritizes clear boundaries, rewards him for his quick learning, and avoids overwhelming him with immediate, intense physical affection. Boomer isn't a social butterfly for crowded family gatherings or a dog-park candidate. But if you live a quiet lifestyle, want an independent, house-trained companion who is perfectly happy doing his own thing with a chew toy, and have the experience to maintain his simple boundaries, Boomer is the ultimate companion who is full of character! History: Rescued by TBL from a Bakersfield shelter when he was at risk of eunthanasia in March 2026. Best Home: Easy going home with or without other dogs as Boomer wouldn't mind having a canine buddy, but it's not required.
