Toby didn't ask to be homeless. At just 3 years old and weighing only 13 pounds, this sweet little boy found himself alone and wandering as a stray. Day after day, he waited for someone to come looking for him, but no one ever did. No family came to claim him. No familiar face appeared. Now, Toby is hoping for a second chance—a family who will love him forever and never leave him behind.Despite his difficult start, Toby hasn't lost his faith in people. He is a sweet, playful, and affectionate little dog who absolutely loves attention and being petted. His tail wags eagerly when someone takes the time to show him kindness, and he is always ready to share his love with those around him.Toby is still learning the ropes of being a cherished family companion and would benefit from basic obedience classes to help him learn his commands and build confidence. Crate training is also recommended to provide him with a safe, comfortable space when you're away and unable to supervise him.Toby has done well with other small dogs and enjoys canine companionship. His experience with cats is unknown, so any introductions should be done slowly and carefully to ensure everyone feels comfortable. Because he can be energetic and is still learning household manners, we recommend a home with children aged 10 and older. What Toby wants most is simple: a soft bed, a loving family, and the security of knowing he'll never have to wonder where he belongs again. If you have room in your heart and home for a loyal little companion who is ready to start his new life, Toby is waiting to meet you. If you are interested in meeting Toby or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, they are open M-F from 10am-4pm. Adoption fee: $300
