All interested people should submit an adoption application as their first step. Gin Gin is a beautiful 8-month-old girl with a gentle soul and a heart that's just waiting to bloom. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, beneath that quiet exterior is a very sweet and affectionate kitten who simply needs a little time to feel safe. Once Gin Gin settles into her new surroundings and learns to trust, her loving personality begins to shine. She enjoys affection and companionship, and while it's still too soon to know whether she'll become a full-time lap cat, we have a feeling she may continue to surprise us as her confidence grows. Gin Gin takes great comfort in the company of other cats and would thrive in a home with at least one friendly feline companion. Having another cat around helps her feel secure and gives her a role model as she adjusts to new situations. Her ideal home would be a calm, quiet environment with patient adopters who understand that some cats need a little extra time to come out of their shells. Older children who can respect her space and allow her to approach on her own terms would be a wonderful fit. While she hasn't met dogs yet, we believe she would likely do well with a calm, respectful dog who would give her the time she needs to adjust. Gin Gin may not be the cat who rushes to greet you at the door on day one, but for the person willing to be patient, the reward will be watching a shy kitten blossom into a devoted companion. If you have a quiet home, a kind heart, and perhaps a feline friend waiting for a new buddy, Gin Gin may be the perfect addition to your family. All pets adopted from GDHS are spayed or neutered, have vaccinations brought up to date, are on heartworm preventative (dogs), FIV/FELV tested (cats) and microchipped. The Greater Derry Humane Society does not have a physical shelter, and all visits are by appointment only.
