his 1-year-old, neutered hound mix is a handsome, scent-driven guy who already knows “sit” and “shake a paw,” and he takes treats politely. He's looking for an experienced, breed-savvy adopter who understands hound traits and can offer an active, structured lifestyle within an adult-only home. Due to handling sensitivities and resource concerns, he isn't a match for children, and he may do best as the only dog—though calm, quiet dog matches may be considered. His ideal home will include daily leash walks, a securely fenced backyard, and plenty of time to build a strong bond; he's not suitable for off-leash parks as he continues working on recall and needs monitored one-on-one dog interactions to observe his skills. He'll benefit greatly from an owner committed to implementing a food program at home (interactive bowls and toys, hand feeding, and trade-ups) and enrolling in a required basic manners class and/or private behaviour training to help him develop confidence, clarity, and good habits. Dash came into us severely underweight( at the end of April), so he had to be put on a slow refeeding diet, so we wouldn't overwhelm his body. We have been doing period bloodwork and looking at his diagnostics and slowly increasing his feeding portions in addition to supplementing him with vitamin b injections. He was initially anemic( low blood cells) but this is slowly improving,so we now placing him for adoption. His new owners will need to do some future diagnostics at their own vet, in a few months, just to make sure, he is still progressing well. He still needs to gain additional weight but this will be a gradual process. He is much improved from when he came into us initially but he is on his healing journey. Size: Medium 17.7kg/39lbs Children: Adult only home please Cats: Not tested - slow introductions are recommended Dogs: May do best as only dog in the home. May be okay with a calm quiet dog.
