Meet Dame Edna of our German shepherd drag queen crew! This litter of puppies came in as strays so we don't know much about their previous history outside of the shelter. However here they have been bold and vivacious, just like their name-sakes! They were a little bit shy at first, being brand new puppies in a big world. But now they are ready to take it on! Being puppies, they have a lot of energy and will need a lot of mental and physical stimulation to enrich their lives. They will need lots of attention and training to learn their doggie skills and become the fabulous adults they are meant to be. If you are looking for a cute little pup who will grow into a cute big pup, consider meeting them today! These puppies are available for preadoption—come meet them, fall in love, and take them home after their spay/neuter surgery! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location's Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you'd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
