About

From a Shelter in Korea to a Second Chance Meet Julie, a beautiful white Jindo mix with a bright smile and a gentle heart. Julie was rescued on February 5, 2025, from Dongguhyeop Shelter in Yangju, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. She was scheduled to be euthanized and was rescued just in time. At the time of rescue, Julie was estimated to be around 10–12 months old. She is now estimated to have been born around March 2024. Since her rescue, Julie has been living at our shelter with many other dogs. In a busy shelter environment, she has shown herself to be calm, stable, and well-balanced. Personality & Charm Julie has a gentle, easygoing personality. She likes people and accepts human interaction well. She is not overly demanding, loud, or hyper. Instead, she has a calm and steady presence. She enjoys being around people, but she is also comfortable spending time on her own. She is not the type of dog who constantly seeks attention or becomes overly pushy. Julie lives with many other dogs at the shelter and generally gets along well with them. She is not a rough or intense player, and she does not constantly bother other dogs. She can peacefully share space with dog friends while keeping her own calm rhythm. Overall, Julie is a quiet, friendly, and sensible dog. We have rarely seen her bark, and she is not known to be noisy or disruptive. Like many Jindo mixes, Julie may need a little time to adjust to a completely new home, person, and routine. However, with patience, kindness, and a calm environment, she is expected to settle in well and build a loyal bond with her family. Compatibility People: Good — Julie likes people and is generally friendly. Dogs: Good — Julie lives with many dogs at the shelter and generally gets along well with them. When meeting a new dog for the first time, she may need a little time to understand the relationship and settle into the dynamic. With calm introductions and proper guidance, she does well. Cats: Not tested — Julie has not been cat-tested. However, she may chase fast-moving animals or objects, so a home with cats would require caution, slow introductions, and careful management. Kids: Julie has met children who visited the shelter and did not show any major issues around them. However, she has not lived with children in a home environment. If there are children in the home, we hope they are calm and respectful, and understand how to interact gently with dogs. Julie would do best with adopters who understand that rescue dogs may need time to adjust, especially during the first few weeks in a new home. Ideal Home Julie would do well in a calm, stable, and loving home. She could live with another well-mannered dog, or she could also be happy as the only dog if she receives enough companionship, routine, and safe outdoor time. A securely fenced yard would be a nice bonus, but safety and supervision are important, especially during the adjustment period. Safety Note Julie is very good at climbing and is able to climb over kennel fencing. However, this does not mean she has a strong escape instinct. At our shelter, the exercise yard fence is about 2 meters high, and she has not shown a particular desire to escape over it. Julie does well in a crate and can settle there without issue. She is simply an observant and curious dog who sometimes enjoys moving around and exploring on her own. During the early adjustment period, before she has formed a strong bond with her adopter, we recommend that she not be left loose in an unsecured outdoor area. Leash walks and careful supervision are recommended at first. Once Julie has built trust and attachment with her family, she may be able to enjoy time in a secure private yard. Her adopter should still be mindful of gates, fences, doors, and outdoor spaces, especially in the beginning. Double leashing is strongly recommended during the adjustment period. Training & Lifestyle Crate Training: Good House Training: Outdoor potty trained Barking: Rarely barks With Dogs: Good With People: Good Leash Skills: Basic leash guidance recommended Energy Level: Medium Health: To be updated Julie is generally manageable and has a stable temperament. She is quiet, clean, and not known to be destructive or overly noisy. She is smart and observant, and she would benefit from a consistent routine, gentle guidance, and safe outdoor time. A Gentle Heart Ready for Home Julie is a lovely white Jindo mix who has already survived a difficult start. She now deserves a safe and loving forever home where she can feel secure and loved. She may not be the loudest or most attention-seeking dog, but her quiet charm, gentle nature, and steady personality make her very special. If you are looking for a sweet, loyal, and calm companion with a bright smile and a gentle heart, Julie may be the perfect match.
