Brave Boy in Training Lio is the kind of dog who wants so badly to be brave. The shelter is a scary place for this sensitive boy. In his kennel, the noise and activity can be overwhelming, and he often appears much more worried than he really is. But once he's outside, away from the commotion, a softer side begins to emerge. Lio walks beautifully on leash and enjoys quiet strolls where he can take his time sniffing and exploring the world. New sights, sounds, and sudden movements can still startle him, and when he's frightened, his first instinct is to create distance. Because of this, he'll need a patient adopter who understands shy dogs and can help him continue building confidence at his own pace. The sweetest moments with Lio are the ones he chooses. A gentle treat taken from your hand. A quiet request for affection. The way he begins to relax when he realizes he's safe. Beneath his nervous exterior is a kind, gentle dog who truly wants to connect. And then there are the toys. Especially balls. Toss one, and you'll see a glimpse of the playful puppy hiding underneath all that worry. He'll happily chase after it and bring it back, even if he's not quite convinced about giving it up right away. Lio has a gorgeous, soft coat and an even softer heart. He doesn't need someone to change him—just someone willing to be patient, earn his trust, and show him that the world isn't quite as scary as it seems. For the person willing to take that journey with him, Lio will be worth every step. To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm.
