Meet Tucker, the 2 year old red Siberian husky! Tucker came into the shelter with his sister CoCo. Tucker is the more outgoing of the two pups. He loves to jump up on strangers and offers big play bows to other dogs to say “hello!”. He lived in a home where he had brief interactions with children and a cat, however adopters should always do a slow introduction with any resident pets to make sure everything goes smoothly. Tucker and Coco were outside dogs in their previous home, but we always recommend dogs stay inside as much as possible to keep them safe and healthy. They might need some time to adjust to indoor living. Since these dogs are energetic pups, they will needs plenty of enrichment, mental, and physical stimulation to keep them occupied and living their best lives. If you are looking for a handsome, fiery husky to keep your days filled with fun, come meet Tucker! Tucker is available for preadoption - come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location's Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you'd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
