Looking for a loyal little sidekick with a heart as big as his ears? Meet Nathan! This handsome 2-year-old Dachshund weighs in at just 10 pounds, making him the perfect portable companion for all of life's adventures. Nathan may be a little shy when meeting new people, especially men, but give him a little time and patience and you'll discover a sweet, affectionate pup who wants nothing more than to be close to his favorite humans. Nathan is the definition of a velcro dog. He loves following his people from room to room, curling up in laps, and soaking up all the attention you're willing to give. He's also a great passenger for car rides and walks nicely on leash, making him an excellent partner for errands, road trips, and neighborhood strolls. In his foster home, Nathan has done very well with house training and keeps his kennel clean. While he's perfectly content relaxing in a crate when left alone, he'd much rather spend his nights snuggled up with his humans. Fair warning: once you let this little guy into your heart, he'll happily claim a spot there forever. Nathan gets along well with other dogs but can be protective of food and valued resources, so his future family should be mindful of managing mealtimes and high-value items. He's done well with adults, children, and other dogs after a proper introduction, though his reserved nature means he may need a little time to feel comfortable in new situations. If you're searching for a sweet, devoted companion who will stick by your side through thick and thin, Nathan is ready to fill that role. All he needs is a patient family willing to help him build confidence and show him just how wonderful life can be. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
