Insights from my adventure buddies and foster friends: `Gladys is very sweet and friendly. She loves pets and scratches. On our walk. she loves looking at squirrels and sniffing plants. She is very gentle with treats. `We picked up Gladys for a few night sleepover this morning and already it's clear she is a gem! I rode in the back seat with her home and after a few minutes she had settled in and given me a belly to rub. Once at home, she was interested in her surroundings but didn't jump on any counters or even get the zoomies that sometimes come with being overly excited. She's definitely interested in treats and takes them very gently, but she doesn't beg and while we ate a meal she slept nearby. We took a short walk, and while she pulls a bit if she's excited, for the most part she walked nicely. Gladys sits without being asked when you put her leash on. She ignored both our neighbor's dog that barked at her and one at the pet store. She hasn't gotten into anything she shouldn't like shoes. Gladys is very sweet and gentle and would be a great pup in a forever home.` `Gladys continues to be a sweet guest. She very much enjoys being outside, whether it's a walk or time on the porch, even if just for a few minutes in this heat. She also enjoys car rides. She is happy to match your pace and relaxing when we are not out and about.` `Gladys continues to be a great dog. This morning we went for a nice walk before it got hot, and she greeted a neighbor by walking right up to be pet. She will pull some when she sees another dog, but we've not seen any signs of aggression - it's more that she might want to say hello. She loves being outside and going for car rides. On our last car ride, she did just fine when one of us got out of the car and didn't jump about at all; we ended up riding home with her in the back seat on her own and she did great (vs other dogs we've had who tried to come drive). Today I had to work all day, so she simply curled up on a bed next to my desk and took a nap until it was time to take a break outside. I love how she matches your speed. Want to go for a 3 mile walk? She's in. Want to watch soccer all day on the couch? She's in.` `Gladys has had a couple of new experiences (at least with us) in the last few days and done well. First, we left her alone for 30-40 minutes each of two days. We came home to find that she had been curled up on a permitted couch, and full of wiggles and chirps when we returned. She settled back down after just a few minutes. Nothing seemed like she had gotten into it or that she had been distressed by being alone although she clearly prefers having her humans. Second, our house cleaners came today, and I kept her in an office with me while they worked. It's the first time I've heard her bark for real (usually it's more of a hrrmphh of interest at a bird or squirrel). She barked a small bark at a measured pace for a few minutes, stopping for a moment when I would say `no.` After about 5 minutes, she stopped barking and stayed focused on the door for another 5 minutes or so before going back to her bed. There was no running around, jumping or uncontrolled scary barks, and honestly, I think if we could have let her see what was on the other side of the door and said hello it would have likely been a non-issue. (Out of respect for the workers, we didn't want to do that.) All in all, Gladys remains a great dog, and I hope someone reading these updates will see she's a sweet, loyal pup who will make a great addition to their home. I love her full body wiggles! She greets me first thing in the morning with such joy and whenever I come in the door whether I've been gone 5 minutes or the day (even if she has another human at home - whoever was gone is the favored one)!` `Gladys had a busy day today! Gladys started the day by going to a new place to walk and run on leash - full of people, dogs, and bicycles. She was very excited at first and pulled quite a bit for the first part but then got acclimated and pulled less. After a while she only pulled when there was a dog, and then even less so. She was never aggressive to anyone or any dogs. This is something she just needs more practice with. After her walk, Gladys went to a local coffee shop and hung out on the busy patio with people and dogs. There was a small dog just a table away who was barking at her, which she ignored. Later we went to a bottle shop that allows dogs inside. She was very interested in looking at the small children a few tables away but didn't pull or bark. She also didn't bark or pull at the dog we saw there. She's definitely ready for adventures with a forever family!`
