About

Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application. Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website. We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have. Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt. General Notes | If you have a special place in your heart for the wallflowers, Heather is the girl for you. This sweet, scruffy little lady is the most timid of her siblings, moving through the world with a quiet, delicate grace. While she may start out as a shy little shadow, her sweetness is undeniable to anyone who takes the time to sit quietly with her. Heather is looking for a soft place to land—a patient home where she can find her confidence at her own pace. She is the type of puppy who speaks in whispers; a soft nudge of her wet nose or a cautious, low tail wag are her ways of saying she’s starting to trust you. Watching her slowly emerge from her shell is a truly beautiful experience, and once she knows she is safe, her loyalty is absolute. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days. Personality | Super sweet and happy! Story | Born to a feral mama dog in rural Texas, a local rescue was able to trap these puppies and keep them puppies safe until they could make their way to Colorado to find their forever families! Mom appears to be a lab/doodle/terrier mix and we think dad is a lab that lives in the area. Other Dogs | Great with other dogs! Cats | She is young enough to do well with kitties with proper intros! Children | She is young enough to do well with kind, respectful kiddos. Training | In progress. Leash | Too little to leash walk, but will learn with time! Our rescue follows “No Paws on the Ground" (NPOG) as a safety protocol for young puppies, primarily used by veterinarians, shelters, and rescues. It means that an unvaccinated or partially vaccinated puppy should never be allowed to put their feet on the ground in any public or communal area where other dogs or animals may have been. These babies love to play in secure yards, and be snuggled and held on family walks. Activity Level | Moderate/high. Typical puppy who loves to play, nap, repeat! Health Notes | Healthy and happy :) Thank you! Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
