Meet Blu he is a 4-year-old, neutered male Pit Bull mix who's a smart guy with some great basics already in place—he happily responds to verbal cues like “sit,” “down,” and “shake a paw,” and he takes treats gently. Blu is looking for an experienced, breed-knowledgeable adult-only home that can offer a calm, quiet environment while still providing an active, structured routine. Because he can be a bit insecure and is an XL-sized dog, we're recommending an adult-only placement with potential child concerns, and any dog-to-dog interactions should begin with controlled introductions to set everyone up for success. Blu needs a home with someone who understands insecure dogs and does not push and understands it takes time for him to feel comfortable and come out of his shell. He is jumpy to sudden touch and really needs to build trust. Blu's ideal adopter can commit to daily leash walks, has a secure fenced backyard, and understands that he is not a candidate for off-leash parks right now—he'll do best building a strong bond and reliable recall first. His new family should also be comfortable implementing a food program in the home, including hand-feeding and trade-ups, and a private behaviour training class is required to help Blu continue developing confidence and polished house manners.
