Meet Hawkeye! ~6-month-old Retreiver/Collie/Great Pyrenees mix Hawkeye just arrived in Colorado from Arkansas. Within his first 24 hours, he went from tail-tucked and unsure to curious and exploring. He even learned how to go up and down stairs within 30 minutes! Hawkeye is still trying to figure out how the world works. He’s had a tough start to life, and at 6 months old he's right in the middle of his prime "fear stage"—who can blame him? He needs a patient family that can show him the world isn't quite so scary. Things Hawkeye loves: Cuddles! Following you around wherever you go Toys! Treats! His food (seriously, yum!) He walks well on the leash He also slepts through the night in his Kong crate. He barked for a few mins but then settled down - very impressive! Things that scare Hawkeye: Mirrors — because who the heck is that?! Sharing toys — what do you mean this isn't mine? Crates — can't I just sleep in your bed? Despite all the recent changes in his life, Hawkeye has been a very good house guest. He has had no accidents indoors , goes potty outside like a champ, eats all of his food , and sleeps through the night . (Although he strongly believes sleeping on the bed with his person is the correct arrangement.) Hawkeye has been mostly good with his foster's resident dog, but he has shown some initial signs of resource guarding. He will need slow, thoughtful introductions to any resident dogs while he learns that there is enough food, toys, and love to go around. Like any young puppy, Hawkeye will also need continued training. He's still figuring out what things mean. Sit? For why? Stay? Sounds negotiable. With patience, consistency, and plenty of treats, Hawkeye is going to blossom into an amazing companion. He's looking for a family that will help him build confidence, celebrate his progress, and remind him every day that he's finally safe. Put in an application at eapl.com. His adoption fee is $375
