Meet Leona! Leona is a beautiful 52-pound Shepherd mix who is still finding her footing in the shelter. The noise, activity, and constant commotion can be a lot for a sensitive dog, and it's clear that this busy environment isn't where she feels most comfortable. At times, she can seem a little shut down as she tries to process all the changes around her.But every now and then, we catch a glimpse of the real Leona. Beneath that uncertainty is a playful, free-spirited girl just waiting to emerge. We've already seen flashes of her softer, sillier side, and we have a feeling there's so much more to discover as she continues to settle in. The shelter may be hiding her personality right now, but it's also showing us how resilient she is. Leona is looking for a family willing to give her the time and patience she needs to decompress and feel safe. With a little understanding and a lot of love, we suspect her confidence will blossom and her playful spirit will shine through. At a perfect medium size, Leona is large enough for adventures but small enough to fit comfortably into many homes. Most of all, she's looking for a place where she can finally relax and be herself.If you have a soft spot for the underdogs and understand that some of the best dogs take a little time to reveal their magic, Leona may be the one you've been waiting for. Leona has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in her new home. Looking for a buddy for your dog?
