Hatch Date: 1998 Chi is a 28-year-old Red Fronted Amazon. He is believed to be male. He has lived with his family for the past 20 years and before that was with another family member. He is very much loved, but his family will be moving and will not able to take him. Chi is a vibrant bird full of charm and character. He has green feathers with a red and yellow face. He has a strong personality and sharp intelligence. He likes to whistle and sing when he feels comfortable. He fills the room with his happy sounds and he truly is a sweet boy at heart. Chi can be a little fresh at times, and will nip. He will also get loud at times. So living in a town house or apartment would not be a good fit. He is usually loud at sunset or when he wants to eat. So he needs someone patient and bird-savvy who understands Amazon personalities. He isn't immediately hands-on, but with time and respect for his boundaries, Chi will form a wonderful bond. He has spent the past 25 years with Peabody, a Green-Winged Macaw. They live together happily, but do not interact. He has grown up with Peabody by his side, but they are in separate cages. Peabody is also available for adoption. Chi likes oranges, grapes, bananas, and all kinds of nuts. He will eat table food. One of his favorite snacks are nutri berries for birds. Bird seed is the everyday diet. Chi has always had Peabody by his side. In a separate cage. Chi likes playing with toys he can pick at or play with. Chi has had regular visits with an avian veterinarian. He is groomed approximately every 6 months, including wing trims. He will fly from time to time, but doesn't get far. He has been disease tested for Chlamydia and PBFD. Chi is participating in our Help with Rehoming program and is still with his family in Toms River, NJ. He will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance. We will NOT ship our birds. Three visits are required to adopt Peabody. For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA. We do not have a central location. We only allow approved applicants to make visits. If interested in adopting Chi, you must be willing to make the required number of visits. Please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org. Please read our adoption policies & procedures and complete an adoption application.
