Meet Elijah…a precious 5 year old ShihTzu, weighing 16 pounds, who has spent his entire life alone and unloved in a small filthy cage at a breeding facility. He is slowly learning the “freedoms” of sleeping inside a home on a soft bed snuggled under a blankie, a big bowl of good food and clean water and eating until he is full, lots and lots of belly rubs and kisses, and rolling on his back in the grass in the yard. Elijah is a very sweet little guy that requires a home with another small playful dog for companionship, a quiet home with no young children, and a secure fenced yard to go potty as he does not know how to walk on a leash. He also requires an adopter who has had some experience/knowledge with dogs that have been rescued from a breeder or puppymill. Elijah is healthy, current on his immunizations, heartworm negative, neutered, microchipped, and he has recently had his teeth cleaned along with multiple extractions. If you are interested, complete the Adoption Application on our website at www.NeedyPaws.org and we will contact you. Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Elijah’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.
