About

Meet Samson, a 1.5-year-old tan German Shepherd with a striking dark brown face and a heart full of love. Handsome, intelligent, and eager to connect, Samson is the kind of dog who makes a lasting impression. Samson is wonderful with people and, with appropriate introductions, does well with other dogs. His sweet, cuddly nature shines through in every interaction. In fact, he was selected to participate in one of our Paws to Read library visits, where he impressed us with his exemplary behavior around many small children. This smart boy would thrive in an active home where he can be included in daily activities and given the opportunity to continue learning. Samson may need to build on his basic obedience skills, but he is highly intelligent and ready to soak up training like a sponge. If you're looking for a loyal companion who is affectionate, social, and ready for adventure, Samson may be your perfect match. Samson spent a night in a foster home and here's what foster mom had to say about him: `My weekend with Mr. Samson was short, but I had a great time getting to know this handsome boy. He is truly a sweet heart who just wants to make everyone happy. He's got a striking face, and is just a very large puppy. As one would expect with any other puppy, he has his moments where he can be a little mouthy or walk off with a sock he's hoping you didn't notice. With a few consistent “no's”, he figured it out easily and I'm sure with time and practice at his new house he would better understand house rules. He was very well mannered around my four year old daughter, she luckily has experience with my two friends' large German shepherds. I'd say he would do better with older kids, only because of his size. He's very large and while he is a gentle giant, he still could accidentally knock over a smaller child than mine. He is an overall well mannered boy, just looking for a family to give all of his attention and love to. ` For the most up-to-date availability of cats and dogs, visit hitchcockroadanimals.org.
