About

*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Looking for a big, fluffy ray of sunshine?! Reece is ready to bring joy, laughter, and a whole lot of love into his forever home. Reece came to rescue with his brother after being with his family since he was just 10 weeks old. Big changes can be hard, but Reece has handled them with a wagging tail, a hopeful heart, and his signature “please notice me” charm. With his light golden coat and happy-go-lucky personality, Reece is one handsome fluff-ball. He may be a Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix, which makes perfect sense because he is equal parts loyal shadow, gentle goofball, and professional love sponge. Reece loves being near his people and greets them with a smile, a wagging tail, and the hopeful look of a dog who knows pets are probably coming. He walks nicely on leash, sits for treats, takes them gently, rides well in the car, and is a good sport for brushing, nail trims, and ear cleaning. What more could you want?! This big puppy at heart is always up for fun. Chase? - Yes. Wrestling? - Absolutely. Rolling around, tossing toys, and showing rope toys who is boss? - Also yes! A 5- foot fenced yard and a playful dog would be right up his alley. Reece is still polishing his house manners, but he is eager to learn and responds well to kind, consistent guidance. He goes into his crate when asked and is making great progress as he figures out this whole “perfect house dog” thing. He enjoys meeting new people and will quietly park himself nearby, waiting for someone to discover that his fluffy head is, in fact, very pettable. He was unsure around cats at first, but now greets them with gentle curiosity and polite sniffs while they rub against his nose. Because Reece is joyful, enthusiastic, and still a bit of a big puppy, he may do best with older children who are comfortable around large dogs. Like many Great Pyrenees-type dogs, he may bark at birds or join in when other dogs sound the alarm, so a guardian-breed-savvy home would be a plus. If you are looking for a loyal, goofy, affectionate best friend with a heart as big as his paws, Reece is ready to make you smile every day. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes.
