*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Meet Fluffy, a gentle giant with a heart of gold! This big, laid-back Pyr came to us from Virginia, where he was rescued from a cruelty case. Despite his rough start, Fluffy is one of the most easygoing, good-natured boys you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting. The moment you start talking to him, he'll flash you the most adorable toothy grin that is guaranteed to capture your heart instantly! Fluffy is a low-to-moderate energy guy who truly savors the simple pleasures in life — a spot in the yard for an afternoon nap, a cool floor to stretch out on, and a good brushing session now and then. He's not much of a barker, only sounding the alarm when he feels it's his duty to alert you to something suspicious. He loves both indoor and outdoor time, has no interest in digging, and he's already leash trained and ready for leisurely strolls. Fluffy is treat-motivated and has so much potential with a committed owner who is ready to work with him on commands — especially if freeze-dried liver treats are involved! Word on the street is he'd also do just about anything for a cheeseburger, so consider that your secret weapon. He warms up to new people quickly, especially once a treat is offered, and while he may be a touch shy at first, his sweet, relaxed personality shines through in no time. Fluffy is good with other dogs, though he can be reactive toward intact males. His ideal home would include an experienced large-breed owner who appreciates just how strong and sizable this magnificent boy is, teen children given his size, and a calm female canine companion — though he would be content as an only dog too, given his wonderfully chill nature. A secure five-foot fence is a must, and Fluffy would prefer to skip the crate, as confinement causes him some anxiety. If you're looking for a big, calm, smiley boy who asks for little more than your company, some tasty treats, and a cozy place to nap, look no further than Fluffy! National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes.
