About

Phoenix is an absolutely stunning boy, hard to believe what he's been through in such a short time. His road to us was rough like most rescue stories are but he faced euthanasia twice, although never seeing the inside of a shelter and barely over a year old. Phoenix had a family who thought they were doing the right thing by sending him to doggy boot camp, but when he came back from 6 weeks of training, he wasn't better or the same as when he left. He was fearful and his behaviors his family had hoped training would fix, were now worse. They looked for a new home for him to avoid what they felt was their only solution. Phoenix found a new home with a rambunctious family who had another dog and kids. It was a lot for him to deal with and once again, behaviors appeared that prompted the family to seek help or again be faced with a tough decision. That's when they found GPRRUM. With the help of New Hope Behavior Consultants for the Guardians, they saw that Phoenix needed a new environment where we could see who is, without all the noise and stress. So Norris Ark stepped up and saved his life by fostering! Phoenix has been in MT for several weeks now and is a happy sweet boy! It's time for him to move onto a foster home or forever home! He will need consistency and routine and a quieter home, no kiddos. Phoenix is not fond of children yet, could come in time, and is also shy with men. Phoenix has not been around cats. He would thrive with a middle aged woman who lives alone, not many visitors but if there were, other women. Older teenagers might be ok. A 6ft fence is a must. But a fence he can see through so he can see people but not interact, no pressure for him. He does well with other dogs, females for now, when intros are SLOW and off leash across a barrier, like a chain link fence. This guy needs no pressures! Phoenix is a lovely boy and has been failed by humans too many times, with it almost costing him his life. We will not let that happen again.
