You can see a short video of me being adorable here.

Hi, everybirdy! I am truly the Sunshine in your life, as that is my name! I came to when my dads passed away. They loved me a lot, and they spoiled me with yummy junk food. I was very overweight. It was a big adjustment for a little bird, so I was pretty skittish at first, but I've been practicing my big-girl courage and my flying. Foster mom says I'm a clumsy flyer, but I sure do like flying, and I have mastered going to all my favorite spots in the house. I fly to my cage at night to put myself to bed! Sometimes I will step up, and some days I am more brave with humans than others. My foster mom says that I am very smart, quick to learn, and so fearless around other, bigger birds that I will need to be monitored carefully. Guilty. If these big green birds I live with get too close I will fight them off, and I am determined to win. I like investigating other birds' food, toys, and cages, so that is probably why I am missing a toe. I've been steadily getting used to new people and surroundings, and through my sometimes-tough exterior, I am showing my softer side along with my pretty yellow feathers and blue eyes. I mostly like to do what I want on my own terms and appreciate an open cage door and my flight explorations, so if you have dogs or cats I might not fit in well unless you can keep me safe and separated.

My favorite things are bathing in my water bowl, nearly every day, but I haven't worked up to showers in the scary shower room; eating other birds' food; eating in general; and playing with my many toys. I’m a very good chewer and shredder, but just my toys and not the house--I am a very good girl! I like how my foster mom gives me a bowl of toys I can throw around. I created a game of throwing them all out. Then she has to put them all back, hahaha! I really love my meals. I eat my mom's chop if the pieces of veggies are very small. I love fruit, especially banana, grape, pomegranate, and apple. I love big round frozen peas, defrosted and organic, please. Lentils, beans, quinoa, and my Zupreem pellets for cockatiel. When I am hungry or don’t like what is on my plate, I will slam the plate down to show you.

My foster mom says that I am easy to care for and fun to have around and that I communicate very well for a non-talker, with softer and happy purr and gurgle sounds and louder and more demanding angry sounds that you can learn to interpret. Also that I am clear with my body language whether I want to step up. And that I am very quiet for a parrot and could live in an apartment. If you can listen and learn to read me, I think we will get along great for many years. I am 16 now, and it would be really nice for me to find my lifelong human friend/s who will love me for that many more years ahead. My foster mom put up a gallery of me here. You can see more about me at https://mickaboo.org!
