GEORGE (A797006) – Foster Progress Report As of May 23, 2026 Foster Placement: March 7, 2026 ACS Age Estimate: Approx. 3 yrs (foster impression: possibly 4–5 yrs based on maturity and demeanor) Status: Neutered | Seeking Permanent Placement Physical Description • Husky / Northern breed mix • Black-grey coat with white/tan markings • Dark brown eyes Intake & Medical Notes • Fostered following neuter surgery after being at risk for euthanasia • Arrived with severe kennel cough and completed extended recovery/isolation due to continued coughing beyond initial quarantine • Early skin irritation and itchiness noted; recovered well and continues adjusting successfully in foster care Temperament & Personality • Affectionate, gentle, and strongly people-oriented • “Shadow dog” personality—prefers staying near people and other dogs • Enjoys affection, closeness, and relaxing beside his humans • Mild, easygoing demeanor with medium energy and playful moments • No notable Husky vocalization observed yet House Training, Kennel & Daily Living • Appears very well potty trained and eliminates promptly outdoors • Sleeps quietly through the night with no whining • Occasionally reluctant to remain kenneled, appearing more interested in household interaction than anxious • Settles appropriately once kenneled and does well during car transport • Showing adaptability and social learning, including using household food feeders after observing resident dogs Training & Social Behavior • Walks well on leash with little to mild pulling • Responsive to direction, generally comes when called, and understands “leave it” • Somewhat food motivated and eager to engage • Doing well with resident dogs and socially appropriate in group living • Friendly and gentle with other dogs, including the household 6-month-old Husky puppy Cat Introductions (Ongoing Evaluation) • Cat introductions are ongoing and closely supervised • Shows curiosity and interest with gradual exposure and continued observation • Can be redirected and continues learning household expectations • At times quietly observes the cats, suggesting curiosity and adjustment • Long-term compatibility remains under evaluation due to unknown history Additional Notes • Occasionally digs shallow holes and lies in them, likely for comfort or cooling and possibly related to prior living conditions • Does not dig near fencing or attempt escape • Stops digging immediately when redirected Overall Foster Assessment • Affectionate, manageable, and strongly people-bonded • Adjusting well to indoor home life and increasingly integrated with resident dogs • Current foster observations suggest George has done well in a structured multi-dog home environment • Cat introductions remain an ongoing evaluation as he continues adjusting and learning household expectations • George has made a very positive impression in our foster home and is the type of dog our family would be happy to incorporate into our own pack
