Deputy is not for everyone. And that’s exactly why he needs someone now. He’s a dog who has been let down by rushed expectations and situations that moved faster than he could handle. What he needs isn’t more pressure — it’s clarity, structure, and someone who understands how to build trust the right way. Deputy struggles with fear around men, and he needs a handler who knows how to work through that thoughtfully, safely, and without forcing interactions. This is where the right person changes everything. Deputy • 5 years old, neutered Malinois • Medium–low energy, calm presence in the home • Lives well with other dogs and has been around livestock • Bonds deeply once he feels safe What he NEEDS: • Experienced handler or trainer mindset • Confident, structured environment • Slow, intentional introductions (especially with men) • Someone who understands that trust is earned — not rushed Deputy is not broken. He just hasn’t had the right guidance yet. Our mailing address is in Michigan, however, our dogs are in private foster homes across the continental US. The state location of each dog is posted with the name of the pet in the title description. We do not disclose exact location of the dogs for the safety of our foster homes and the dogs. If you are located within 4 hours of the pet, please be prepared to pick up the pet. For greater distances, MAD does offer transport assistance for up to 350 miles for the adopter, however transport is primarily on the responsibility of the adopter.
