About

Four (A140928) is a 5-year-old AK Husky x Pointer mix who weighed 54.2 pounds on intake! Foster update: We have been fostering Four and his brother Two. They are sweet and wonderful dogs. Four is a VERY active dog accustomed to living outdoors on a tether with a house, as is typical for sled dogs. He enjoys being in a dog yard and being able to say hello to his neighbors and play with them. He is very friendly to humans and dogs alike and loves playtime in our free-run pen. He is more shy than his brother but has warmed up to us more and more. He loves to run and does well in harness - both him and his brother have great athletic builds and lots of potential as sled dogs. Four is always moving, which has made it hard to get a good photo of him! Four is also an eager eater and loves meal time. I have been introducing him to bikejoring and he picked it up quickly so there is lots of potential for him to be an awesome bikejor/skijor dog. I think Four would do best in a home where he can primarily remain outside on a tether with a proper house, as this is how he is most comfortable, while slowly being introduced to the indoors. I think he would also like a home with another dog(s) he can be buddies with. He should also not be trusted to be loose unless in a secure fenced area. Potential adopters should be familiar with sled dogs and be ready to provide active outlets and secure housing for him. 01/22/26 These eager-to-go pups were surrendered to the shelter because their owner is facing some medical concerns and is unable to provide them with the lifestyle they need. They are working dogs and were said to be wonderful sled dogs! All these pups were stated to get along well with other dogs and are great pullers. They are accustomed to living out on a dog house but were said to have enjoyed coming inside during that super cold snap. However, they are not housebroken, and if you do plan on transitioning them to indoors, they will need help adjusting to indoor living – potty training, kennel training, basic commands, etc. They know mushing commands but that is about it. They would love to join a rec team or even to become your adventure buddy if you live an active lifestyle – skijoring, bikejoring, or even becoming your hiking buddy! Anything to keep them both mentally and physically stimulated so they stay out of trouble! If you are interested in meeting any of this crew or possibly the whole gang, please let us know!
