About

Please go to our website at www.milehighlabmission.com to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application. Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website. We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have. Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt. General Notes | BONDED WITH BETSY - Adopt a Bonded Pair! Found in the brush with her six babies and nanny dog best friend in Kingswood, TX, this sweet mama has experienced a whole lot of hardship, and deserves a whole lot of love. This wonderful girl, a true hero of motherhood, has given everything to raise her beautiful litter. Now that her puppies are finding their forever homes, it's finally her turn to be cherished, spoiled, and rested. She deserves a life of quiet luxury filled with soft beds, gentle walks, and endless, unconditional love—no more duties, just pure devotion. She is an incredibly sweet, nurturing, and loyal companion ready to trade puppy chaos for peaceful cuddles. Give this deserving mama the repose and reprieve she has earned, and she will reward you with a lifetime of gentle gratitude. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Mabel is so very sweet! She can be a bit shy meeting new people but she has improved so very much over the time spent in her foster home. She can, however, get spooked once in a while and it may be a little difficult to get her corraled. But she has a very goofy side as well! She will build a bond with her humans for sure! SHe can be a bit of an escape artist so a secure yard is a must. Story | Mabel (along with her bonded pal Betsy) were found in the wild in Texas. Other Dogs | WIth a proper intoduction Mabel is great with other dogs and will often play tag. Cats | Good with cats! She was fostered with a kitty in Texas and ignored him! Children | SHe can be a little shy with all new people so it will be important that any children in the house can repect this and can work with her. Training | Mable is house and crate trained and is very treat motivated! Leash | SHe walks well with a harness and loves to go out and explore with her sister Betsy. Activity Level | medium. She can be quite playful and loves to play tag but is also quite happy to snooze. Health Notes | Mabel is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education and care. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians, and has already started her treatment process. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting this sweet gal! Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $750 per dog). Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
