About

Oh Freddy! This cutie was brought to our shelter by one of our volunteers trying to assist a local business spay/neuter it's cat population. Freddy was very scared initially and continues to be a bit guarded. That is what happens to young kittens when they have to worry about sheer survival every day. They get used to looking for and protecting themselves against the "next danger" and trying to find their next meal. We are helping Freddy adjust to being cared for, having food (always), and learning that people are good and not another danger. He was recently added to a room full of kittens which seems to be helping build his kitten confidence. They are currently teaching him how to play with toys and how to use cuteness to get extra food and treats. Freddy is getting good at this part! Freddy does enjoy affection, including being held close to your heart. He will begin to purr and you can feel his little body relax. Freddy is continuing to learn and grow into "kitten life" so he will need some patience and soft reassurance from his adopters. *****Update: Freddy has basically grown up in our shelter as he is now nearing the transition to "adult". He has turned into quite a (large and) handsome cat! As you can see from his pictures Freddy is polydactyl, basically his paws look like catchers mitts. He walks like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, and he is certainly as handsome! He has developed close relationships with several of our volunteers and is very affectionate and outgoing with them. I am one of those lucky volunteers that can call Freddy over to me and he will come so that I can love on him. He will even sit in my lap or at the least rest his big paws on my feet just so I stay put. Yes Freddy took ALOT of work, patience, and time to get him to this point but believe me he is worth it. He will look you directly in the face when you are talking to him as if he is hanging on your every word. Freddy does take a little time to adjust to "change" so for sure will need some extra patience/grace in his new home as he learns the ropes but as soon as he gets comfortable (and he will) you will be one of the lucky ones too because Freddy's heart is as big as his paws. Freddy does like other cats and does enjoy playing with those in his room. He even has patience with some of the smaller ones around him. He has kind of taken on a more confident "big brother role" with them but would be great with (youngish) adult cats more his size as well. Overall, he is quite mellow and enjoys lounging and loving most of his day away with an occasional wrestling session with Garth (another available handsome boy in his room) but will always back down from Bindi (a tiny girl kitten in his room that looks like she could be his much younger but wilder little sister). Freddy will probably not be the first cat to catch your eye when you come into our shelter to meet the cats, he might even be hiding in a cubie, but I guarantee you will have no regrets giving this gorgeous boy a chance. The cats that take a little extra effort always become the most unforgettable so please consider Freddy boy!
