Koda is a fun, intelligent Malinois mix who has made HUGE progress in foster care and is finally showing everyone who he really is. When Koda first left the shelter, he came with about 50 years worth of stored-up energy and absolutely no understanding of why humans kept trying to contain him. Thankfully, with structure, consistency, playtime, and guidance, he has settled beautifully into home life and has become an awesome companion dog. Koda has discovered his “off switch” and now loves relaxing inside with his people just as much as he enjoys adventures outside. He’s active and playful without being over-the-top chaotic, and he would thrive with someone looking for a true companion to train, play, and bond with. Located in Virginia Young adult male Malinois mix House/crate trained and does very well in the home Extremely people-oriented and loves being near his humans Loves fetch and outdoor adventures Dog social with appropriate dogs and enjoys playing with his female foster sibling Smart, engaged, and enjoys training Adapts well to new environments Great for cooperative care (including nail trims/pedicures!) Not considered a flight risk — he genuinely wants to be with his people Typical Malinois mouthiness — likes carrying and mouthing objects Will need continued structure, training, and redirection as he continues learning household boundaries Can become possessive over his person at times, but is making excellent progress with clear communication and routine Older children would likely be best due to his rambunctious play style High prey drive — best suited for a home without cats or other small animals Koda is truly a solid, entertaining, affectionate dog who just needed guidance and stability. We do provide transport assistance up to 350 miles. The applicant must drive the remainder of the distance of the transport.
