Meet Tuff — a gentle soul finally learning what safety feels like. Tuff was found abandoned in a home, surviving on his own with a few other dogs. With a past like that, it’s no surprise he’s still learning how to trust, relax, and accept love. He’s shy and often shivers when he’s unsure, but every day he makes a little more progress. Tuff is discovering that soft beds are for comfort — and that people can be kind. He’s still coming into his own, moving slowly but surely in the right direction. Tuff is low maintenance, working on housebreaking and doing good , and comfortable with other dogs (and even cats). He's calm, gentle, and prefers cozy naps over toys. What Tuff needs most is patience, a peaceful home, and someone who understands that healing takes time. In return, he’ll give you the sweetest kind of love — the kind that grows slowly, softly, and honestly. If you have a quiet home and an open heart, Tuff is ready to blossom with you. Due to our participation in the Vernon Hills 4th of July Parade , there will be no adoption event on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Instead, come visit us the following weekend at Libertyville Dog Days of Summer on July 11 & 12 ! Stop by to have some fun, meet our amazing adoptable pets, and say hello to the Reach Rescue team.
