Who do we like, Cinch? No one. Okay, maybe not no one , but Cinch definitely doesn’t hand out trust freely. Cinch is a dog who takes a very long time to warm up to new people. Until he feels comfortable, he prefers his space and isn’t afraid to make that clear. Even offering him a treat can be tricky because he’s more likely to go after the hand than the snack. This past weekend gave us a little bit of hope. Cinch went on an overnight trip with his foster mom to visit another foster’s home. This wasn’t their first meeting. In fact, she had visited several times before and Cinch wouldn’t allow her to pet him. But she didn’t give up. She never pushed him, never forced interaction, and never expected more from him than he was ready to give. This weekend was more of the same. She gave him space, occasionally tossed him a treat, and let him make the decisions. And eventually, Cinch decided she was good people. For most dogs that might not sound like much, but for Cinch it’s a huge milestone. We’re looking for an extra special adopter for him. Ideally someone local to the Ronan area who would be willing to visit his foster home multiple times and allow Cinch to get comfortable before going home. He needs someone who understands that trust is earned on his timeline, not ours. The bright side is that we know it’s possible. Cinch absolutely adores his foster mom, foster dad, foster brother, and his furry siblings, both cats and dogs. Once he trusts you, he’s all in. Cinch isn’t the dog for someone looking for an instant connection. He’s the dog for someone willing to put in the time, celebrate the small victories, and let him show you who he is when he’s ready. And trust us, those victories are worth it. ❤️
