About

Hi there — I’m Markie! My story started in a pretty scary place. I was rescued alongside 54 other rabbits from a large dumpsite in Mankato, Minnesota. Not long after I arrived safely in rescue, I surprised everyone by giving birth to two beautiful babies! I’ve been through a lot, but I’m a resilient girl, and now I’m ready to find my forever home. I’m a solid black Rex mix with the softest velvety fur and a very friendly personality. I love greeting my humans every time they walk into the room — I just can’t help myself! I’m mellow, easygoing, and always happy to see you. One of my favorite things in the world is SPACE! Give me room to zoom around and watch me soar. I love supervised free-roam time in a bunny-proofed area where I can explore, play, and show off my bunny binkies. Cardboard boxes are basically my version of luxury real estate, and bunny-safe enrichment toys keep me entertained and happy. I currently live happily as a single bun, but I may enjoy having a bunny friend someday. My calm and gentle personality could make me a great bond mate for the right rabbit companion. I’m also pretty tidy! I use my litter box for all my pee, though I do occasionally leave behind a few decorative cocoa puffs to keep things interesting. Interior decorating is a hobby of mine. When it comes to food, I’m an excellent hay eater. Timothy hay is my favorite, especially from Small Pet Select, Rabbit Hole Hay, or a local farmer. (Please don’t offer me Oxbow hay… I have standards.) I also enjoy my daily Oxbow Essentials Adult pellets, fresh greens, and of course bunny-safe treats! I do have some special needs. I’m a head tilt survivor, which means I have a permanent slight head tilt and occasional balance issues. Sometimes I tip over while grooming or scratching my ears, but I don’t let that stop me from enjoying life. Because I’m a Rex rabbit, my delicate feet also need soft flooring to help prevent sore hocks. Foam workout mats with a rug on top are perfect for me. And for grooming? A soft rubber brush works best on my silky Rex fur. More than anything, I’m looking for a safe, loving home where I can relax, zoom, snack, and be adored for the brave and sweet girl I am. Could that be with you? *RRMN requires all children be 10+ years old for first time bunny owners and 8+ for those with previous bunny experience. All applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.* If you're interested, please fill out an adoption application at: http://www.rabbitrescueofmn.com . Gender: Female (spayed) Approximate birthdate: February 2025 Approximate weight: 4.69 lbs Adoption fee: $100.00 (+tax) RRMN bunnies are all vetted, spayed/neutered, and vaccinated. All bunnies are fostered in private homes where they are socialized and ready to become indoor companion house pets. RRMN is a non-profit rescue group operated 100% by volunteers, and 100% of donations/adoption fees go to the direct care of our animals. Due to their very special behavioral needs, we do not advocate for our rescue rabbits to serve as Emotional Support Animals (ESAs). We are unable to provide any documentation or certification for an ESA. If you have any questions or are interested in meeting or adopting this bunny, the first step is to complete an adoption application found on our website: http://www.rabbitrescueofmn.com . For the safety of our rescue bunnies, our protocol requires a home-visit before placement. Therefore, we are unable to facilitate adoptions that exceed an hour and a half of travel time from the Twin Cities area.
