Come meet Jared and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (05/10) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Rockville, MD (5154 Nicholson Ln Kensington, MD 20895)! Name: Jared Best Guess for Breed: Lab / Shepherd mix Best Guess for Age: 11 months as of December 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 40 lbs as of 10/5/25 - his weight was stable for about six weeks as of that date Gets Along With: Jared do es well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. He has done well with kids in his foster homes, but w e haven't seen them with cats. We are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. Jared is shy and also needs a welcoming resident dog who will help show him the ropes! Jared is Looking For: Meet Jared. Or Jerry. Or JerBear, depending on how unserious the moment is. Jared is looking to submit an application to be your resident dog's best friend - and once your pup vouches for you, Jared is sure to fall in love with you too. He's a goofy young dude who’s down for anything, and old soul who just wants a quiet evening and a snack. He will absolutely go from full-speed wrestling matches with dog friends to melting into a couch like he’s been paying rent there for years. Jared is food motivated, trainable, and surprisingly adaptable. He reads other dogs well, matches energy like a pro, and is an enthusiastic but gentlemanly playmate. Once he gets to know you are his person, you get a ridiculously loyal, funny, affectionate companion with just enough attitude to keep life interesting. Plus...how cute is that curly tail! What My Foster Says About Me: Jared is incredibly sweet, gentle, and patient. He loves belly rubs, toys, and is very food motivated which will be great for training. He loves other dogs! He is very shy at first but also really wants to be with his people so if you let him engage at his own pace, you’ll quickly see him begin to blossom and show what a sweet, loyal, loving dog he is. He just needs some time to build that special trust with his human. Jared is a real gem! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
