If you're working for home or just playing it safe by practicing social distancing, now is a perfect time to bring a new furry family member into the fold. Email us any questions about any cats we have and we will be happy to provide any additional information you may need. If you are approved for adoption, we are now doing curbside adoptions in order to minimize contact. Hemingway is a little over 4 years old as of June 17, 2026. He was adopted at 10 months and lost his home, through no fault of his own, on 6/15/26, and surrendered to an open intake facility. As a small foster based facility we have absolutely no room to bring Hemingway back in and have 6 days to rehome him/claim him. We haven't seen him since his adoption, yet remember him to be the sweetest boy. He will require time in segregation. We are offering him through our foster to adopt program where immediate placement with his new family would occur and Safe House would be responsible for updated vaccinations, exam and any necessary medical treatment for 90 days. Here was his description at the time we adopted him in 2023: Hemingway is about 10 months old as of March 2023. Just check out his magnificent paws! He's a polydactyl kitty who also has a mild case of cerebellar hypoplasia (https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/cerebellar-hypoplasia-in-cats). He's just the teensiest bit wobbly in his back end. The combination of huge paws, a little wobble, and charming personality is simply irresistible! He's amazing with all ages, so he'd be the perfect family cat. apply now at safehousepets.org All of our cats have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped, and tested for FIV/FeLV. Our adoption fee structure is as follows: $75 - Kittens/Young (Up to 1 year) $50 - Adult (1 Year +) $25 - Senior (7 Years +) $0 - FIV + There is an additional $25 fee for cats considered to be an "Exotic" (Siamese, Persian, etc...) If you are a senior (65 years or older) you can adopt any of our senior cats (7 years or older) for only $10! Please mention this special when applying. We also have a kitten special - adopt 2 available kittens (1 year & under) for $125 While we try to keep our animal listings up-to-date online, sometimes the age range may be labelled incorrectly. Our cats are shown by appointment - we are a foster based rescue and so we don't have a location with set hours.
