About

If you're interested in adopting any SGSR dog, please read about our Adoption Process and fill out an Adoption Application . Visit our website for more information, including Frequently Asked Questions . Hi, I’m Maddie. I’m 11 years young, professionally loyal, emotionally attached, and currently accepting applications for my next favorite human. I was adopted from Southeast German Shepherd Rescue about 8 years ago and thought I had my forever home. Sadly, my dad passed away, and now I’m back with SGSR looking for another family to love with my whole giant shepherd heart. Here’s what you should know about me: I’m basically your shadow. If you go to the kitchen, I go to the kitchen. If you sit down, I’m at your feet. If you move rooms for absolutely no reason like humans tend to do, I will supervise the journey. I live with my foster family in Moyock, NC and have made myself very comfortable here. My best friend is another dog named Blanton, and honestly? I think he hung the moon. When he leaves the house, I become dramatically concerned about where he went and whether he’ll ever return from his very important mailbox inspection mission. I’m a sweet, loving girl who especially bonds deeply with men, though I can absolutely do well with women too if introductions are slow and respectful. Once I trust you, you’re my person. End of story. A few more Maddie facts: Favorite snack: dried beef lungs. Fancy? Maybe. Delicious? Absolutely. Favorite hobby: following my human from room to room. Favorite luxury item: a ThunderShirt during storms. Favorite outing: coffee runs for pup cups. I’m basically a regular customer at this point. Favorite sleeping arrangement: half on the bed, half on the cool floor, rotating hourly like a rotisserie chicken with opinions. Thunderstorms are not my thing. I prefer a calm home, reassurance from my people, and maybe a cozy ride in the car if the weather gets rude. When I get startled, I can be vocal about my concerns. Frankly, communication is important in relationships. What I really want is simple: a patient home, people who understand that senior dogs still have plenty of love left to give, and a family that sees how special I am. Because once you’re mine, I’m yours forever. If you think I might be the missing piece in your home, please fill out an application through Southeast German Shepherd Rescue. I’ve been waiting a long time for my happy ending, but I still believe it’s out there. Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit.
